3 held with 12.6 kg gold at Dhaka airport

Customs officials at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital seized 101 gold bars weighing about 12.6 kilograms and arrested three young men in this connection Saturday morning. The arrested were identified as Sabuj Miah, 35, Joynal, 35, and Roman, 22. Ishrat Jahan Rumi, assistant commissioner (Customs), said the trio landed at the airport by a flight of the Biman from Dubai via Sylhet about 8:49 am. Following secret information customs officials challenged them. The value of the seized gold was estimated at Tk 60 million. — UNB
