3 held with arms in city, Comilla

Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate drives arrested three suspected firearms traders along with arms and ammunition from Dhaka and Comilla on Sunday. The arrested are Rakibul, 20, hailing from Chapainawabganj district, Kazi Mohamamd Zaman, 28, and Abdul Hakim, 34, of Comilla district. Tipped off, a team of DB police arrested Rakibul along with 4 foreign made pistols, 8 magazine and 12 bullets from a bus in Motijheel Shapla Chattar in Dhaka city on Sunday. During the interrogation Rakibul said he had been involved in arms trading for long, he added. According to the statement of Rakibul, DB police launched a drive at Magbari area under Kotwali Police Station in Comilla and arrested Zaman and Hakim at night. They used to collect arms from the bordering areas in Chapainawabganj and then supply those to different parts of Comilla, Brahmanbaria and Dhaka, said police, according to UNB.
