3 held with geckos in Sylhet

Police in separate drives arrested three people and seized four geckos, a reptile locally known as ‘takshak’, in Humayun Rashid Chattar and Hazrat Shahjalal Dargah Gate areas in South Surma in Sylhet city on Wednesday night. The arrested are Monir Uddin, 60, a resident of Dharakul village at Companiganj Upazila at Noakhali, and Abdul Majid, 48, and Julhas Miah, 48, both residents of Mullapara village of Panchhari Upazila of Khagrachhari. Being tipped off, a team of police arrested Majid and Julhas from Humayun Rashid Chattar area around 9:30pm when they had just sold four geckos to Monir. Following their confessional statement, police conducted another drive in Hazrat Shahjalal Dargah Sharif gate area and arrested Monir at night. Police recovered four geckos from Monir’s possession, according to a news agency.
