3 held with smuggled goods in Jessore

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel arrested three women along with a large quantity of smuggled goods at Jamtala under Sarsa upazila in Jessore district on Saturday night. The arrestees were identified as Shukjan Begum,50, wife of Anisur Rahman, Lilufa Khatun, 30, wife of Yunus Ali and Khadija Begum,50, wife of Adam Ali – all hail from Gatipara village at Benapole union in Sarsa. Subedar Ayub Hossain, Benapole camp commander of BGB-26, said acting on tip-off, a BGB team conducted a drive and arrested the trio along with Indian sarees, motor parts, fruits, sharp weapons and other goods at about 8:30 pm. The market value of the seized items would be around Tk 1.34 million, the commander added. The seized goods were deposited to Benapole custom house, according to UNB.
