3 injured in Dhaka gas cylinder blast

Two women and a child of a family sustained serious burns when a gas cylinder exploded during cooking at Kamrangirchar in the city, police say. Doctors say the victims are in serious condition. Police identified the victims as one-and-a-half-year old ‘Alif’, his mother Joly Begum, 27, and grandmother Aklima Begum, 65. Alif sustained 95 per cent burns, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Burn Unit surgeon Partha Shankar Pal said. Joly and Aklima sustained 85 per cent and 65 per cent burns respectively. Relatives said the explosion took place around Saturday noon when Joly was preparing lunch. Neighbours and relatives rushed them to DMCH around 1:00 pm, said Inspector Mozammel Haq of DMCH outpost. Alif’s father Ramjan Ali works as an electronic mechanic, according to bdnews24.com.
