3 killed, 30 injured in road accident

At least three people were killed and 30 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Pona at Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj on Saturday. The dead are Fouzdar Shikder, 60, son of Lal Mia Shikder of Keshabpur of Netrakona district, Khokon Mallik, 28, son of Shomer Mallik of Nandia of Narail district, and Odud Mridha, 70, son of Ashik Mridha of Bashgram village of Narail. Locals said the accident took place in the area around 3:30am when a Narail-bound 'Diganta Paribahan' bus from Dhaka skidded off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch, leaving three people killed on the spot and 30 others injured. The injured were rushed to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex, according to UNB.
