3 killed as truck overturns in Faridpur

At least three people were killed and five others injured in a truck accident at Piarpur under Faridpur municipality on Monday night. The dead are Thandu Sheikh, 32, a resident of Jessore district, Shakhawat Bapari, 35, a resident of Munshiganj district, and Litu Matubbar, 40, a resident of Piarpur village of Faridpur. Mohsinul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said a cattle-laden Dhaka-bound truck from Kushtia overturned around 11:30pm when its driver lost control over the vehicle, leaving Shakhawaat and Thandu dead on the spot and five others injured on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway. Locals rushed to the spot and were rescuing the victims. Litu Matubbar died while doing rescue work. The injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Being informed, police rushed in and recovered the bodies and sent the bodies to the hospital for autopsy, according to a news agency.
