3 killed in Naogaon road accident

NAOGAON, Apr 27 (UNB): Three people, including a mother and her daughter, were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on-collision between a bus and a three-wheeler 'Bhatbhati' at Sreerampur on Naogaon-Rajshahi highway in Manda Upazila Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Farida Begum (32), her daughter Nahid Akhter Nodi (10), of Kathaltali village and Ahir Uddin (55) of Noltoir village in the Upazila. Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at about 8:30pm when the Rajshahi bound passenger bus collided with the 'Bhatbhati' coming from opposite direction, leaving three passengers of the three-wheeler dead on the spot and 10 others injured. Of the injured, five were admitted to the Upazila health complex while others were released after first aid. Putting logs, angry people blocked the highway and damaged some vehicles protesting the accident. On information Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and local representatives rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Youth jailed for Eve teasing Another report adds: A mobile court here sentenced a youth to 10 months and 10 days imprisonment for sexually harassing a madrassah girl Tuesday night. The convict was identified as Dewan Nahid (20), son of Nur-e-Alam of the town. Police said Nahid used to tease Maria Sultana Nodi (15), a student of class IX of a local madrassah, resident of Dakkhinpara area of the town, on her way to the madrassah since long. On Tuesday evening when Nodi, daughter of Azizur Rahman, came out of her house Nahid tried to abduct her. Hearing her cry for help local people caught the culprit from the spot and handed him over to the mobile court.
