3 killed in road mishaps in dists

SYLHET, Apr 23 : One man died and seven others were injured as a microbus plunged into a roadside ditch at Shreepur Picnic Centre on Sylhet-Tamabil highway in Jaintapur Upazila Friday. The deceased was identified as Maniruzzaman Manir (26), son of Akteruzzaman of Sateroti village of Dhunat Upazila of Bogra. Police said the accident occurred at about 8am when the microbus from Bogra fell into the ditch as its driver lost control over steering, leaving Manir dead on the spot. The injured were admitted to Jaintapur Hospital. Highway police recovered Monir's body and sent to Sylhet Osmani Hospital morgue for autopsy. Another report from Benapole adds : Two people died in separate road accidents on Jessore-Benapole road and Jessore-Khulna road Friday. The victims were identified as Sagor (24) of Pairadanga village and Rubel Hossain, son of Abdur Rahman of Ramnagar Pukurkul of the district. Kotowali Thana OC Obaidul Haque said Sagor was crushed under the wheels of a truck in Malancha on Jessore-Benapole road while Sohag Paribahan ran over Rubel at Muruli on Jessore-Khula road. Following the accidents local people blocked Jessore-Khulna road. Police went to the spot and controlled the situation.
