3 killed in separate incidents

PABNA, Apr 13: Two persons were killed in separate incidents in Pabna today (Monday). Of them a man was found dead at village Baghail of Ishwardi upazila on in Pabna Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Asadul Islam, 47, son of Mohir Uddin of Bagahail village in Ishwardi upazila of the district.
Biman Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi said they recovered the body from a jackfruit garden of village Baghail at about 9:00am on being informed by local people.
The body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations, he said, adding that the police suspected he was strangled to death following previous enmity or mugging.
In another incident, a woman committed suicide by jumping down from a running train at around 12.15pm on Monday at Ishwardi Rail Station area in Ishwadi upazila of the district Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Sabura Begum, 55, wife of late Abul Hossain of Pearkhali village in the upazila. In another incident, a man was killed in a road accident at Gangarampur on the Dhaka-Nagarbari highway in Santhia upazila of the district today morning.
The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 45, son of late Secendar Ali of village Peerpur in Santhia upazila of the district.
Police and eyewitness said that Saiful died on the spot when a speeding truck hit him while he was crossing the highway at around 7.30am. The body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
A case was filed with Santhia police station over the accident.
