3 killed in \\\'shootout\\\' with Rab

Three men, said to be bandits, have been killed in an encounter with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Shoronkhola upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday. Rab claimed that those killed belonged to the ‘Shirsho Bahini’, a gang of robbers operating in Sundarban area. The gunbattle took place on Tambulbuniya canal of Shoronkhola range in the eastern division of the Sundarbans on Tuesday morning, said Major Anwarul Kabir, deputy commander of Rab-8. The Rab personnel recovered 16 firearms during a raid on the gang’s hideout, Kabir said. Two of those killed were identified as ‘Quader’ and ‘Kalyan’. The third could not be identified as yet, according to bdnews24.com.
