3 more RAB men held over N\\\'ganj killings

Police have arrested three more Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel over the murder of 7 people in Narayanganj and remanded them for questioning. Assistant Sub-inspectors Abul Kalam Azad, Bazlur Rahman and Havilder Md Nasiruddin were held on Monday night, said Narayanganj district Detective Branch OC Mamunur Rashid Mandal, the case’s investigating officer. They were arrested after their names came up in our interrogation of the other RAB members we arrested over the murders,’ he added. Their arrests take the number of RAB personnel held over the murders to 14. Ten among them have given confessional testimonies to court. Seven, including Narayanganj City Corporation’s panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted in the city on April 27. Their bodies were found floating in Shitalakkha and Dhaleswari rivers a few days later. Former Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, then the RAB-11 commander, was removed along with former Maj Arif Hossain and former Lt Commander MM Rana even before the bodies were found. The former RAB trio was forced to retire and arrested, according to bdnews24.com.
