3 pedestrian killed in road accident

Three pedestrians, including a couple, were killed while 15 passengers of a bus injured as the bus overturned on Dhaka-Rangpur highway at Fasitola in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Ismail Hossain, 40, son of Khoka Mian of Masta village of the upazila; his wife Tara Begum, 31; and Alim Miah, 40, son of late Kazem Uddin of the same village. Locals said the Rangpur-bound bus of ‘Hanif Enterprise’ turned turtle as its driver lost control over the wheels while trying to overtake another bus of the same company on the  highway at about 9:00 pm on Monday, leaving 18 people injured, including pedestrians Ismail, his wife Tara Begum and Kazem Uddin. Five of the injured were rushed to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where Islail, Tara and Kazem succumbed to their injuries later on Tuesday morning. Officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Highway Police Enamul Haque confirmed the deaths, according to a news agency.
