3 \\\'robbers\\\' injured in gun battle in Satkhira

Three suspected robbers were injured in a ‘gun battle’ with police at Magura village at Tala upazila of Satkhira district on Monday. The injured were identified as Kalam Sheikh, 30, son of Sobhan Sheikh of Chandkati village at Tala, Saddam Hossain, 22, son of Alauddin of Mithabari of Patkelghata upazila, and Zillur Rahman, 21, son of Jakir Hossain of Mohammadpur upazila. Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station, said being tipped off that a gang of 10-11 armed robbers was preparing to commit robbery by placing logs on the road at Magura, a team launched a drive. Sensing the presence of the police, the robbers opened fire and blasted several crude bombs targeting police, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a gun battle. Three gangsters were injured by bullets during the gunfight. Police arrested the injured robbers while their other associates managed to flee the scene, according to a news agency.
