3 RU BCL leaders sued for assaulting engineer

Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have filed a case against Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Towhid Al Hossain Tuhin and two others for assaulting three people, including the university’s chief engineer. Registrar Entajul Haque lodged the case accusing the postgraduates of extortion and assault on Saturday afternoon, Motihar Police Station OC Md Alamgir Hossain said yesterday. The two other accused, besides finance and banking department student Tuhin, are fisheries department students Tonmoy Ananda Ovi and Mamun-Ur-Rashid. On Saturday, the three BCL men were temporarily suspended from the RU. University spokesperson Ilias Hossain said Vice Chancellor Md Mijanuddin took the decision to suspend Tuhin, who was relieved of his post as BCL RU unit general secretary, and his affiliates for assaulting acting Chief Engineer Sirajum Munir and two other staff on Thursday, according to bdnews24.com.
