Monday, 6 August 2007

Three schoolboys were washed away by seawater while they were playing football at Patenga beach in Chittagong Sunday morning on the occasion of the Friendship Day. Sources said, ill luck struck Ibrahim Miah (15), a class-X student of Agrabad Boys School, and Avishek Barua Sabuj (14) and Arefin Siddique Kalam (14), of Chittagong Municipal School. They said, 12 students of the two schools went to Patenga beach at about 9am to play a friendly football match to celebrate the Friendship Day. "Ibrahim went down the shore to bring back the out-scored ball about 11am. Soon waves roared up, and drowned him. Then, Sabuj and Kalam were also washed away as they walked down to their friend's rescue," said a spot account of the incident.
