3 stabbed, 50 bombs blasted

Three people sustained stab injuries and 10 houses were vandalised in a clash between two rival groups at Sadar upazila in Madaripur district on Wednesday. The injured were identified as Rebaul Qazi, 28, son of Yunus Qazi, Sayed Mollah, 16, and his father Salam Mollah, 50, of Laxmiganj village. Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Laskar group and Qazi group over establishing supremacy in the area. The victims’ family members said a group of people of Laskar group suddenly attacked the houses of Qazi group’s men at the village around 4:00am and vandalised at least 10 houses with sticks. They exploded around 50 hand-made bombs to create panic. The attackers also chopped Rebaul, Sayed and his father Salam with sharp weapons as they tried to resist them, leaving them injured. The three injured were admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital in critical condition, according to UNB.
