3 to die for murder in M\\\'singh

A court in Mymensingh on Wednesday sentenced three people to death and five others to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Phulpur Upazila in the district 2-and-half years back. The condemned convicts are Askar Ali, Shahab Uddin and Tula Miah. The lifers are Rubel Miah, Abdus Sattar, Surujjaman, Abu Bakkar and Atab Uddin. According to the prosecution, the convicts had chopped Abdul Halim to death over land-related dispute at Kashiganj in Phulpur Upazilla on May 27, 2002. A case was filed with Phulpur police station and the charge-sheet was submitted to a court accusing 8 people. After examining witnesses and documents, judge of additional district and session judge’s court-4 M Jahirul Kabir gave the verdict, according to a news agency.
