Three children have been admitted to Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases or BITID with an 'unknown disease' in the hill area of Udalia Tripura Palli in Chattogram's Hathazari Upazila, reports bdnews24.com.
They were transferred there for more advanced treatment on Sunday night, said Dr Abu Sayed Md Imtiaz Hossain, health officer of Hathazari.
The condition of nineteen other children affected by a similar disease at Hathazari Upazila Health Complex is improving, he said.
Authorities came to know about Tripura children suffering from a disease in the upazila's Poshchim Udalia Sonairkul area in Farhadabad union early on Sunday. The children ran high fever and experienced troubled breathing and rashes.
They are also suffering from severe malnutrition, according to Imtiaz Hossain.
At least four children, including three of a family, had died after suffering from the same disease in the past six days, the authority said.
