30 computer sets stolen from Pabna Edward College

PABNA, Mar 9: Pabna Govt Edward College Cyber Centre, an IT laboratory of the college was looted early Sunday. Unidentified thieves looted 30 computer sets worth Tk. 1.5 million from the laboratory breaking down the grill of the IT laboratory.
According to college source the Cyber Centre was introduced in the Pabna Edward College in 2008 providing 30 computer sets with internet connection.
"Students of the college do internet browsing in the Cyber Centre free of cost. The lab is kept open till the college hour while many students of the college use the internet in the centre. A computer training course is also performed in the centre." Nurul Alam, assistant professor of Management Department of the college and also the head of the IT laboratory said.
When the lab was opened on Sunday morning all the computer sets were found missing, he said.
Officer in charge of Pabna Sadar police station Kazi Haniful Islam said a gang of criminals looted the computer lab in a planned way. Police is investigating into the incident, he said.
10 shops gutted in devastating fire
A devastating fire gutted 10 shops at Dublia bazar of Pabna Sadar Upazila Sunday morning. The fire damaged goods worth Tk 10 million, sources said.
The fire originated from a shop of the market at about 5:30am. It soon spread to other shops of the market, leaving Rubel Honda House, Jahangir Engineering Workshop, Mostofa Furniture, Chandan Furniture, Roich Furniture and Robin Furniture burnt.
Owner of the market Md Aminur Rahman Manik claimed the loss resulting from the fire would be Tk 10 million.
Fire fighters from Pabna and Sujanagar fire station rushed to the spot and took the fire under control after two hours.
