30 Govt high schools run without headmasters

RAJSHAHI, Oct 5 (UNB): Thirty government high schools, out of total 37 have been running without any regular headmaster for a longtime in the division, hampering the academic and administrative activities of the schools.
Sources said no appointment was given to the posts of the headmasters for a longtime when those posts fell vacant.
Moreover, the assistant teachers of the government high schools did not get any promotion for the last 25 years for lack of promotion rules.
Acting headmasters are running the academic and administrative activities of the schools in absence of the headmasters.
There are regular headmasters only in seven schools of the division.
Secondary and Higher Education Rajshahi Zone office sources said the posts of headmasters have been lying vacant in near about thirty Government High School The assistant teachers and assistant head masters are running the schools as acting headmasters.
Secondary and Higher Education Rajshahi Zonal Deputy Director Professor Tarun Kumar Sarkar said the teachers were not given promotion because of lack of time befitting promotion rules and lack of coordination among Establishment Ministry, Finance Ministry,Public Service Commission and Education Department.He said that the government would take initiative immediately in this regard.
