30 hurt in clashes in Narsingdi char area

NARSINGDI, Oct 7 (UNB): At least 30 people were injured in a day-long series of clashes between two rival groups over establishing supremacy at Chanpur in Roypura Upazila Friday.
The injured were admitted to Brahmanbaria Hospital in critical condition.
Police and locals said in a sequel to a long standing dispute between the groups of Tazul Member and Sultan Germany over establishing supremacy the clash took place at Chanpur village, a remote shoal area.
The clash ensued at about 9am when the supporters of Sultan Germany attacked the people of Tazul Member at the village.
Both groups equipped with sharp home made weapons locked in a series of clashes that left at least 30 people including a woman injured critically.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation at about 6pm.
Chanpur union parishad chairman Momen Sarkar informed that both groups vandalized at least 10 houses and looted valuables worth Tk about 5.0 million during the clash.
