COMILLA, Aug 15 (UNB): A 30-km tailback was created on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway Thursday following a road accident in Daudkandi upazila, causing sufferings to thousands of people.
Sub-inspector Mohammad Shahin of Daudkandi Highway Police Station said two covered vans collided head-on at Raipur in the upazila at around 9:00 am, disrupting traffic on the busy highway.
The accident caused a 30-km tailback from Chandina to Gumti Bridge in Daudkandi.
The long traffic jam was created as drivers blocked the highway driving their vehicles haphazardly.
Massive tailbacks were also created on connecting roads - Gauripur-Homna, Gauripur-Matlab and Gauripur-Kachua - following the traffic jam on the highway.
Passengers, especially patients, had to go through untold sufferings due to the long tailback.
