30 more alleged Rajakars sued in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Jan 12 (UNB): Thirty suspected Rajakars, including top Jamaat and BNP leaders, have been sued for killing a freedom fighter in Sharankhola Upazila during the War of Liberation in 1971.
Achhia Khatun, wife of martyred freedom fighter Joynal Fakir, filed the case with the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of the district Monday.
Two of the main accused are: Mr AKM Yusuf (70), former Education Minister of the then East Pakistan and Nayeb-e-Ameer of the central committee of Jamaat-e-Islami and Dr Miah Abbas Uddin (60), former lawmaker and president of Morelganj Upazila unit BNP.
In her complaint, Achhia stated the "Rajakars" swooped on Tafalbari Bazar and killed her husband Joynal Fakir at a road on June 9, 1971. They also threw the body into a river.
Besides, the collaborators looted valuables and set ablaze the houses of many people, she alleged.
