Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Monday announced a 30-member preliminary squad with ten new faces to form the national football team for three upcoming international soccer tournaments, reports UNB.
The three soccer tournaments are: SAF Championship scheduled for December this year, South Asian Games in January next year and the final round of the AFC Challenge Cup in February or May next year.
The preliminary Bangladesh squad will first undergo a three-week-long conditioning camp in Cox's Bazar, which is likely to begin on June 15. Later, the team will move to a residential training camp at BKSP in Savar.
The Brazilian coach of Bangladesh team, Edson Silva Dido took a challenge inducting ten young players in the preliminary squad to build team, which will eventually become core of the Bangladesh team for this year's SAFF Championship and the SA Games in 2010.
Dido, who helped Bangladesh to qualify for the final round of the AFC Challenge Cup as the best runners-up of four groups, named 30 players for the preliminary squad ignoring some big names. The squad will go into a three-month training program before the domestic season kicks off.
The squad, however, excludes big names of local football like central defender Mohammad Sujan, striker Robin and former national captain Matiur Rahman Munna apart from midfielders Sharif and Prantosh. All the five players except Prantosh were part of Dido's squad for the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers.
