30 shops gutted

At least 30 shops were gutted in a fierce fire which broke out at Algir Bazar in Haimchar Upazila of Chandpur Sunday. Fire service sources said the fire originated from electric short circuit at a bakery at the bazar and soon engulfed the adjacent 29 shops.The affected shop owners claimed that cash and valuables worth Tk 50 million were gutted in the blaze. -UNB
