300 villages will be flooded if TRM not implemented, says movement body

JESSORE, May 26:  Bhabadaha Pani Nishkashan Sangram Committee, a body that was formed for movement to resolve water-logging problem at Bhabadaha, in a press conference demanded immediate implementation of tidal river management programme at Beel Kapalia to save people of a vast area of land from water-logging problem.
Iqbal Kabir Jahid, politburo member, Workers Party of Bangladesh and also a leader of the committee, Gazi Abdul Hamid, Anil Biswas and Baikuntha Bihari Roy were present at the press conference held at Jessore Press Club on Sunday noon.
The speakers, said some 300 villages will face water-logging problem if TRM is not implemented.
They also said that some quarters were opposing the implementation of TRM to save their fish enclosures. A small number of affected people chorused with them, too. But they do not know that TRM is the crying need to save a large number of people of Bhabadaha affected area.
The press conference is counter to another press conference held at the same place on May 14.  
Bhabadaha Water-logging Resolving Movement Committee arranged a press conference in which the speakers said the technically defaulted tidal river management programme should be dropped. All the dams, embankments and sluice gates should be removed too for the sake of bringing natural flow of water in the concerned rivers, especially the   Bhabadaha related areas.
