3,000 cops brought to book during emergency: IGP

CHITTAGONG, July 20: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Noor Mohammad Friday said punitive actions have been taken against 2/3 thousand police officials on charge of corruption and irregularities since the state of emergency was declared on January 11. Addressing a press conference at the auditorium of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Building at 5:00 pm, the police chief noted that gone were the days when politicians used to pull the strings in policing. — UNB
