32,060 pieces of Yaba recovered, 4 held

COX'S BAZAR, July 18 (UNB): The members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in two separate drives recovered 32,060 pieces of Yaba tablets and arrested three persons from Chittagong Railway Station and Teknaf Upazila Thursday.
In Cox's Bazar, the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in two separate drives recovered 28,900 pieces of Yaba tablets and arrested a woman in Teknaf Upazila Thursday.
Acting on secret information that a huge consignment of smuggled amphetamine Yaba tablets was entering the country from India, a team of BGB conducted a drive at Moulvir Para point in the Naf River and seized 24,000 pieces of the tablet from a boat around 8.00pm, said Commanding Officer of BGB 42 battalion Lieutenant Colonel Abujar Al Jahid.
Besides, a team of police led by Mohamamd Moktar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station, conducted a raid at the house of Jafar Alam and recovered 4,900 pieces of Yaba tablet from the house around 4:30 pm.
Police also arrested Rashida Begum (40), wife of Jafar Alam from the house and seized two motorcycles from there.
In Chittagong: Government Railway Police (GRP) in separate drives arrested three people including a woman with 3160 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Chittagong Railway Station on Thursday night and Friday morning. The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Yusuf, 22, Asma Akhter, 18 and Belal Mia, 38.
GRP Sub-Inspector Nurul Islam said Belal was arrested with 2160 pieces of yaba tablets from old railway station area on Thursday night while Asma and Belal were arrested with 100 pieces of yaba tablets from new railway station area on Friday morning.
