336 women and children given legal aid under FAP in Khulna

KHULNA, Nov 11: Female Assistance Programme under Woman and Child Affairs Ministry is working for legal aid to the distressed and victimised women. But the organisers are facing various problems including inadequate fund allocation and bad communication systems. 336 victimised women and children have so far been given legal aid from shelter home during the last five and half years in Khulna division under the programme.
A total of 882 allegations have been submitted to Anti-Women Depression Cell and of them 869 cases were settled and Tk. 6.7 lakh was realised as fine during the period.
Official source said that 195 women including 141 children were given female assistance from Khulna shelter home during last five and half years from 2009 to July-2014 and a total of 869 cases were settled during the period. At present 83 complaints are on process in the shelter home and 18 cases have been settled through court.
