34 gold bars seized at Kamalapur Rly Station

The members of Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered 34 gold bars from 2 passengers at Kamalapur Station in Dhaka on Wednesday. So far, contraband gold has mostly been seized from passengers travelling by air. However, the bars were found today on two passengers travelling by inter-city ‘Turna Nishitha’ express train from Chittagong, Kamalapur Railway Police Station OC Abdul Majid said. The two were detained for failing to produce documents to justify possession of so much gold. They have been identified as ‘Dilu’, 34, and ‘Sumon’, 35. The gold bars weighing 4kg in all were valued at Tk 20 million, according to a news agency.
