Tuesday, 5 April 2011
A total of 34,198 Bangladeshi workers have been repatriated to Bangladesh from trouble-torn Libya until Monday, reports UNB.
Of them, the return of 3,831 persons has been arranged by their employers while some have returned on their own and 27,010 people have been repatriated under the coordination of the International Organization of Migration (IOM).
Of the total repatriated Bangladeshis, some 3357 persons availed of Bangladesh Biman flights, a Foreign Ministry press release said Monday.
About 900 Bangladeshis are now awaiting repatriation at Ras Jdir border point of Tunisia. In response to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' request for more Bangladesh Biman flights to bring back the rest of the Bangladeshis stranded at the Libya-Tunisia border, Biman has decided to operate three flights from Djerba on 6, 8 and 10 April. The flight particulars would be available at a later stage.
