35 Bangladeshis back after 3 yrs\\\' jail in India

At least 34 Bangladeshis have returned home from India after serving three years’ jail term for illegal stay in that country after intrusion. Indian Immigration police handed over 34 women and a child to Benapole Check Post’s immigration police around 8:30pm on Wednesday. The returnees hail from Benapole union of Sarsa Upazila in Jessore district, Chapainawabganj, Shariatpur, Dhaka, Bandarban, Dinajpur, Jessore, Khulna, Mymensingh, Narail, Satkhira, Pabna and Noakhali districts. Human trafickers took them to India. Maniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration police, said in 2011, Indian police had arrested them in Mumbai city. Afterwards, they were sent to Mumbai jail where they were awarded three years’ jail term. Upon completion of the jail term, they were later kept in different shelter centres. The Indian government has returned them following repeated requests the Bangladesh home ministry made by sending several letters, according to UNB.
