35 fishermen go missing in trawlers capsize

BAGERHAT, Sept 10 (UNB): Around 35 fishermen of eight trawlers went missing in the Bay of Bengal Saturday and Sunday as their trawlers capsized in the rough sea.
Sources said the fishing trawlers with some 105 fishermen capsized at Dimer Char, Kachukhali, Kachubari, Gyanpara, Padmashul and Kaliar Khal areas in the Bay caught by storms.
Some 70 fishermen managed to swim ashore but the 35 others remained missing, the sources added.
The ill-fated fishermen hailed from Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Patuakhali, Barguna and Bhola districts.
Lieutenant Commander of Coast Guard Mongla west zone Faisal M Mahmud said they are trying hard to rescue the missing fishermen.
