Primary and secondary school students will get 350 million books on the first day of the new year, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told a ceremony at the Sher-e-Bangla Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Saturday. Preparations for providing the books to students were complete, he said. Over 350 million books will be distributed on January 1, 2014, among more than 44 million students at various levels in schools. The ministry has been holding the ‘Textbook Festival’ for the last few years. The government handed out around 260 million textbooks to students free of cost last year, according to a news agency.
