36 gold bars seized at Shahjalal

Customs officials seized 36 gold bars, weighing 4.2 kg, at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in the city on Monday morning. Ishrat Jahan Ruma, assistant commissioner (customs) of the country’s prime airport, said a flight of ‘Flydubai’ from Middle Eastern city of Dubai landed at the airport around 09:15am. Tipped-off, a team of custom officials conducted a drive in the flight after all the passengers got down from the aircraft. Later, the team recovered the 36 gold bars, worth Tk 20 million, from a toilet and under a seat of the aeroplane in an abandoned condition at about 9:45am, said Ishrat Jahan Ruma, according to UNB.
