36 gold bars seized at Shahjalal: 1 held

Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport seized 36 gold bars, weighing about 4.200 kilograms (kg), on Monday. They also arrested a Biman passenger in this connection. The arrested is Md Jamal Uddin, 45, who arrived in a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Dubai around 8:50am. Contacted, Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Shamprity Pramanik said customs officials challenged Jamal at customs hall for his suspicious movement around 10:30am. They later detected the presence of gold bars after scanning a bicycle carried by Jamal, AC Shamprity said. Finally, 36 gold bars, which were kept hidden in the bicycle, were recovered, according to UNB.
