37 BD trafficking victims return home

A total of 37 Bangladeshi human trafficking victims who were rescued by Myanmar authorities on May 21 were brought back home from Myanmar on Friday after a flag meeting between the border guards of the two countries, The flag meeting was held between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) along the Ghundum border point in Naikhyongchari upazila of Bandarban district around 12:40 pm, said Shyamol Kumar Nath, superintendent of Cox’s Bazar police. Among the rescued victims—five hail from Sirajganj district, four from Sunamganj, eight from Kishoreganj, 11 from Habiganj, seven from Bogra and one each from Madaripur and Jamalpur districts, said the SP. All the victims were handed over to Cox’s Bazar police, according to a news agency.
