37 BDR men among 39 remanded

Thirty-nine more suspects - 37 BDR members and two civilians - were taken on remand for different periods by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Thursday for their alleged involvement in the February 25-26 BDR carnage inside the Peelkhana headquarters. Five other BDR suspects were sent to jail after being produced before the Dhaka metropolitan court on the day. A shopowner and a sweeper were the civilian suspects who were taken on remand along with the 37 BDR men, court sources said. Police Thursday produced a total of 44 suspects before the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Faisal Atiq Bin Qadir who after hearing ordered the five to jail custody. — UNB
