38 cattle markets in 6 Narsingdi UZs being set up

Our Correspondent NARSINGDI, Nov 1: Narsingdi District Administration will set up 38 cattle markets in all the six upazilas of the district on the occasion of Eid ul Azha. Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner official sources said that the Administration will operate mobile court to check transaction in counterfeit bank notes in the cattle markets . Deputy Commissioner official said some executive magistrates would be deployed in the cattle markets to guard against transaction in fake bank notes and protect the animals traders from toll collectors. Police have taken steps to also check the law and order situation in 35 cattle markets for ensuring a peaceful celebration of Eid ul Azha . A preparatory meeting was held at Narsingdi Police Super conference room recently. The meeting was presided over by Police Super Md, Akkas Uddin Bhuiyan. Nilphamari Our Nilphamari correspondent reports: Selling of sacrificial cattle at different markets across Nilphamari district has gained momentum. Sources said almost 80 per cent of the cattle found in the markets are artificially fattened by the household farms. The cattle fattening farms generally are of small size comprising 10 to 25 cattle and it requires 6 to 8 months for a cattle to be reared and attain commercial size and Eid uL Azha is the targeted time to sell those. In this year price of sacrificial cattle is cheape in comparison to last year's price. While contacted one owner of a cattle fattening farm said that he may not make expected profit this year as the price has came down. The price of a small size ox is around Tk. 15,000 to 20,000, a medium size is Tk. 20,000 to 25,000 and that of a big size is between Tk. 25,000 to 30,000. There are a huge supply of cattle in the markets.
