38 fishermen missing as trawlers capsize in Bay

 At least 38 fishermen went missing as two fishing trawlers sank in the Bay of Bengal in Monpura upazila during storm on Thursday. The victims hail from Goalia village in Sakuchia union of the upazila. Quoting fishermen of other trawlers, trawler owner Mostafa Kamal said one of the fishing boats capsized in the bay in the early hours of Thursday while the other on Thursday night after they were caught in storm. He said he could not communicate with the fishermen for two days till Friday evening. Contacted, officer-in-charge of Monpura Police Station Hanif Sikdar said he has learnt about the incident. Locals said the trawlers might have been sunk in the bay under the influence of cyclone ‘Komen’, according to a news agency.
