3rd Karnaphuli Bridge may open before schedule

The 3rd Karnaphuli Bridge on the Karnaphuli in Chittagong is likely to be opened to traffic before the schedule, as its work is going on in full swing. The work of the much-awaited bridge, costing Tk 5.90 billion with 950-metres in length and 24.40-metres in width, and two-km approach roads on both sides started in 2002-03, is scheduled to be completed in 2009-10. "About 32.10 per cent work of the project was completed until September last, spending about Tk 118.7 million," Project Director Abdul Muktadir said. — BSS
