3rd National SME Fair gets huge response

Entrepreneurs at the 3rd National SME Fair got a tremendous response from visitors with 150 per cent rise in their sales and nearly 100 per cent in spot orders, according to a press release.
Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Foundation organised the five-day fair at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre from April 4 as part of its efforts to expand market of SME products at home and abroad.
Some 150 entrepreneurs took part in the fair and displayed hundreds of items, such as - footwear, clothes, leather goods, handicrafts, light-engineering items, agricultural products, herbal products, and fashion wares. Most of these items were made by poor and underprivileged village people.
According to the press release, a large number of city dwellers visited the fair, and bought almost all the displayed products, whose total cost stood at about Tk 12 million. Sales in last year's fair were nearly Tk 5.0 million.
Besides, the entrepreneurs got spot orders of Tk 12 million, which was Tk 7.17 million last year, the press release informed.
The authority increased time of the fair by one hour last day following huge response from the visitors.
