4 arrested in connection with Tk 4.7m heist

In an overnight drive on Monday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested four alleged muggers from the city’s Gulshan area and recovered looted Tk 512,000 and 139000 Indian rupees from their possession. The arrested were identified as Mahbubul Alam, 30, Badsha Miah, 28, Md Masud Rana, 39, and Nayon Dariya, 28. RAB-1 sources said a special team of Rab-1 conducted the drive following the mugging incident at Niketan under Gulshan police station where muggers took away Tk 4.7 million stabbing a money exchange owner. Bandits snatched the amount from Saiful Islam Sabuj, proprietor of Loknath Money Exchange, on July 1. A case was filed with Gulshan police station in connection with the incident. RAB-1 started investigation into the incident alongside Gulshan thana police. The Monday night’s drive was conducted following secret information. During the drive, the elite force also recovered two motorbikes used in the Niketan’s mugging. Of the arrestees, Mahbub and Badsha directly took part in the mugging while two others helped them providing information and other logistic support, according to UNB.
