4 Bangladeshis die in Saudi suicide bomb attack

The deaths of four Bangladeshis on Thursday in Saudi Arabia’s Aseer province were caused by bomb explosion, not car crash as reported by a section of media on Saturday. At least 17 people died in the suicide bomb attack. Among the 17 killed in Thursday’s suicide-bomb attack on a mosque in Aseer province, four have been identified as Bangladesh nationals. Consul General of Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah AKM Shahidul Karim said that several more Bangladesh nationals injured in the attack were taking treatment in a Jeddah hospital. Saudi police said a suicide bomber killed at least 17 and injured many more in the attack on the mosque used by members of a local security force in southwest Saudi Arabia’s Aseer province. The Islamic State militant group has claimed the responsibility for the attack. Bangladesh has condemned the attack. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a message to Saudi King expressed her solidarity with the Kingdom to fight against terrorism in any form. The consul general said they had already contacted the family members of the deceased identified as Afaz Uddin and Mohammad Jibon from Lakshmipur district, and Belal Hosain and Moinul Mridha from Comilla district. He said they would take the decisions on sending the bodies back home later based on their families response. He, however, said they were still collecting the details of the injured, according to a news agency.
