4 Bangladeshis shot by BSF

Border Security Forece (BSF) personnel have fired at a Bangladeshi family while it was trying to enter Indian territory through Phulbari frontier in Kurigram district, leaving four people, including a child, injured. The shooting was reported from near Khalisha Kotal border point of Phulbari Upazila on Sunday night. The members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) later detained six of the family and rushed the injured to a local hospital. Phulbari Upazila Health Complex officer Abdul Hai said the four were hit by rubber bullets and were now recovering. Nayek Subedar Mokbul Hossain of the BGB Balahat border outpost said 10 people from a Hindu family were trying to cross the border around 9:30pm when BSF opened fire. At the sound of firing, BGB personnel went to the border area and rescued Shiuli Rani Das, her daughter Shrabonti Das, 3, and nephews Debal Das, 15, and Ajeya Das, 19. The others were detained and later handed over to Phulbari police. BGB also filed a case against them for crossing the border illegally, according to bdnews24.com.
