CHITTAGONG, Apr 5: Four cases were filed against 13 identified and thousand others of Islamic Ain Bastabayan Committee accusing them of vandalising vehicles and shops. The cases were filed with two police stations against IOJ cadres named and unnamed. Police Monday night arrested 13 persons in connection with vandalising vehicles during the dawn-to-dusk hartal called by Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini-led faction of Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) under the banner of Islamic Law Implementation Committee protesting the proposed women development policy. Sub-inspector Pritan Sarkar filed two cases with Baizid Police Station against 21 named and several others unnamed persons for attack on the police and vandalism during the hartal. Besides, sub-inspectors Golam Kibria and Omar Faruk of Hathazari filed two cases for vandalism and obstruction to police from performing duty against 10 named and several others unnamed persons. bdnews24.com report adds: At least 47 persons have been arrested from different parts of the town in Narayanganj in connection with violence during Monday's hartal.
