4 charge-sheeted in Bagerhat Hindu widow gang-rape case

BAGERHAT, May 27 (UNB): Police Wednesday pressed charges against four youths in a case for gang-raping a Hindu widow in Rampal upazila on March 12.
The charge-sheeted accused are Matlub Hawladar, 27, son of Rafiq Hawladar of Boro Katakhali village of the upazila, Shamim Hasan alias Shamim, 28, son of Zillur Sheikh of the same village, Shankar Sarker, 30, son of Karunamoy Sarker of Kumarkhali village, and Sorbojit Mojumder, 22, son of Biswajit Mojumber of the same village.
Shamim has been shown arrested in the chargesheet while the remaining three remain absconding, Rampal Police Station sub-inspector Abaul Bashar, who is also the investigation officer of the case, told reporters after submitting the chargesheet to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court Wednesday.
The chargesheet will be produced before the Judge during the next hearing of the case, scheduled for June 22, added the SI.
