4 cops among 5 hurt in Ctg \\\'gunfight\\\': 3 Shibir men held

CHITTAGONG, Aug 11 (UNB): Five people, including four policemen, were injured in a 'gunfight' between activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and police in the Babunagar area in Satkania Upazila Sunday midnight.
The injured policemen were Sub-inspector (SI) Imrus Tarek, SIs Helel Uddin and Fazlur Rahman and ASI Yeamin of Satkania Police Station while another injured was Shibir activist Shaheed.
Police said they had secret information that some Shibir men were holding clandestine meeting at a house in the area.
A team of police launched a drive in the area and cordoned off the house to arrest the Shibir men.
Sensing the presence of police, the Shibir activists opened fire forcing the law enforcers to fire back, said SI Imrus Tarek.
Shibir man Shaheed sustained bullet injury in his leg during the gunfight while four policemen were also injured in scuffling with the Shibir activists, he added.
Later, the police team arrested three Shibir men-Sayem, Borhan and Shaheed who was injured with bullet after a hot chase.
The team also recovered one LG, one shooter gun, four round cartridges and one machete from the spot.
