Four policemen of a Chuadanga court have been closed to the district police lines on charges of dereliction of duty. The punitive action was taken against Ishak Ali, sub-inspector of the court, constables Azizul Haque, Touhidul Islam and Shaheen Mia. Mohamamd Faruk Hossain, inspector of the court police, said Shaheen, an accused in a case, escaped from the police custody after breaking open the window of the toilet of the court while being taken to Chuadanga District Judge’s Court on Tuesday afternoon. The four policemen were on duty during the incident. When the incident came to light, a probe committee headed by Inspector Faruk Hossain was formed to look into the matter and he found the four policemen guilty of negligence of duty, letting the accused escape. Following the probe report, Rashidul Hasan, superintendent of police of Chuadanga, issued an order on Thursday to withdraw the four cops on duty in the court and to close them to the Chuadanga Police Lines, according to UNB.
